If you add a note to a shared item, you can modify the original post however you want, and that is what get published in your Shared Items the second time(it just usually happens to be the same).

I've also noticed that OPML import problem with Shyftr, it only took in about 10% of my feeds, however, I just tried importing into Bloglines, and it picked up all of my feeds, which makes me think the problem is likely with Shyftr.

Re: Google Reader allows me to (surreptitiously) alter the text of any article.

Another bug with the new notes feature that I noticed - once you share an item, but go back and add a note, it creates a duplicate entry instead of just adding the note.

Also, anyone else having issues importing OPML files from google reader? I seem to have issues anytime I try to import them into any other readers (Shyftr most recently)

Re: Google Reader allows me to (surreptitiously) alter the text of any article.

I looked around a bit and couldn't find it easily accessible anywhere, so I uploaded today's file.

Ryan Svoboda's OPML File 5/7/2008

If you end up getting all my tags or folder structures I apologize, it's current;y very messy and I need to get around to organizing it.

Re: Google Reader allows me to (surreptitiously) alter the text of any article.

Do you share your subscriptions OPML file anywhere?

Re: Google Reader allows me to (surreptitiously) alter the text of any article.

What other bugs have you noted, Louis? I've noted my lack of ability to hit the notes feature with a hotkey, but that's relatively minor compared to this.

Re: Google Reader allows me to (surreptitiously) alter the text of any article.

interesting find ryan - please don't change any of my shared items :)

Re: Google Reader allows me to (surreptitiously) alter the text of any article.

Great presentation of this problem. I agree that it has the potential to cause great mischief.

Re: Google Reader allows me to (surreptitiously) alter the text of any article.

The new Notes feature in Google Reader definitely launched with some bugs. I don't think I'll be using them at all to start, until they get the issues worked out. Yours is just one of the examples we've already seen tonight. Google Reader is great, and the team is sharp, but it's clear they need a bit more external testing on occasion.
