Does anybody know if there's any way to fix it so you can open the patcher in this event? It happened to me too, and I want to be able to download and patch and all.

Error is caused by unsupported (old/outdated) video cards. Work around as stated above, create a new shortcut direct to the exe which bypasses the video card drop dead routine.

I am still unable to play my game. This is kind of ridiculous. I will not be buying anymore Sims games.

i had the sims 3 for a year now, but i havent played in a while. i wanted to try to play it right now, but it didnt even respond. i tried uninstalling it, but it said an error occured. so now i cant play the game, or even install it. it is COMPLETELY stuck on my computer now! HELP???

Did you get your problem fixed? What is wrong with it that you have to pay to get it fixed? I have had my game since it came out and still cant play the game.

Hi, i get this exact same problem, the only difference is that when i go into the sims folder to open TS3.exe it still wont load, it comes up eith another error reading 'This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem'. I have reinstalled 3 or 4 times and i get the same error.

Anybody else having this problem? Please help me if you have any idea of what to do

Couldn't you have just used the "except" option for the filter in your ApplicationController?

Good point, I must have had this page open as well, so that brings me up to 4, Google is so ubiquitous I didn't even realize it.
